Ready to grow more like we do at Urbavore? Weather you're just getting started or want to get more serious about urban food production and design, this workshop will provide you with a diverse skill set to get you confidently growing more food at home or on a small scale micro-farm. The workshop combines hands on activities and discussion on our four key learning topics. We kick-start with successful seedling propagation, bed prep, crop spacing and chemical free crop protection methods to maximise your productivity of nutrient dense veggies in a small space. Learn the Art of Composting and how to make your own organic liquid fertilisers to help boost soil biology and plant health. Discover how composting and kitchen waste can even be used to produce ongoing sustainable energy! Discover first hand how we raise and integrate poultry as part of our production system to provide eggs and even meat, in a way that is sustainable and ethical. Learn the key steps and skills in oyster mushroom cultivation and head home with your own mushroom kit to get growing. The workshop takes place at our home and urban micro-farm in the lower Blue Mountains. Jo & Joe operate an urban market garden, supplying fresh organic produce to their local community and family. We are passionate about sharing our experience to help others on their own journey toward local food resilience. Head home with our detailed course notes and resources to get you started on your own successful urban scale micro-farming journey, plus some free seeds and seedlings, a mushroom kit and other goodies to get you started!
